Itinerario
DAY 1: CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – CHALLACANCHA – SORAYPAMPA – LAGOON HUMANTAY
We will pick you up from your hotel at 5.00 am. in our tourist transport, and then we will travel around 2 hours, during the trip we can see the spectacular snow-capped peaks and valleys with colourful landscapes until we reach our first stop in the village of Mollepata, where we will have our first breakfast.
After breakfast, we will again address our transportation and around 9:00 am. We will arrive at Challacancha (3600 m.s.n.m.) and start the walk to Soraypampa. The first 25 minutes will be uphill until we reach the old Canal de Agua, next to the old water channel where it runs clean and cold water that supplies the inhabitants of the area with water. Then, we will walk this part of the route on a good road where we will have good panoramic views of the two beautiful Nevadas Humantay and Salkantay mountains. This first morning we will take a walk of about 3 hours until you reach Soraypampa (3900 m.s.n.m.), area where we will have our first lunch and place of our hostel. At this point we’ll have enough time to enjoy and take pictures of the impressive canyon views.
In the afternoon, after a well-deserved rest we will leave the hostel for a short walk going up to visit the beautiful Laguna Humantay that meets the 4200 m.s.n.m., the walk is about 1 hour and 20 minutes until you reach the famous Laguna, where you will enjoy the beauty and charm of the place and the best opportunity to take fantastic photos. Afterwards, we will walk back to our Soraypampa hostel, to see a beautiful sunset in the middle of the glaciers, then we will taste our delicious dinner. Here is the possibility to take advantage of the clear night to appreciate the constellations in the sky.

DAY 2: SORAYPAMPA-SALKANTAYPAMPA-ABRA SALKANTAY-SORAYPAMPA
This day our cook will wake us up with a coca mate at 06:00 am., and after our delicious breakfast, we will start our walk in order to reach the highest point of the route that is 7 km. this we will do approximately in 4 hours of walk.
This second day will be the most arduous day of the entire route. We started our walk from Soraypampa uphill, with a gradual slope for 1 hour and 30 minutes along the Valley of the Salkantay until reaching the area known as Salkantaypampa located at 4200 m.s.n.m., where we will take a short rest accompanied by beautiful views. After this break, we will go up a rocky valley and continue along a challenging path of pure rise known as the “7 snakes” for 2 hours and 30 minutes until you reach the highest point of our tour, the impressive Abra Salkantay located on the 4630 m.s.n, m. (15190 feet). From here we can appreciate spectacular views of the mountains and towering snow-capped peaks such as the magnificent Salkantay Mountain (6271 m.s.n.m. /20574 feet). and Humantay Mountain (5400 m.s.n.m. /17716 feet) and views of other snow-capped peaks. We will have enough time to stay and rest in the open, take unforgettable photos and enjoy the scenery. The Salkantay Mountain is the second highest mountain in the region. Also, from the Abra Salkantay you will enjoy the back of the Nevado that always has snow on its summit.
From the heights we will continue with our excursion and we will have the way back, we will go down for 2 hours and 30 minutes until we return to Soraypampa, on the way we will observe the great forest of stones, we will continue descending until we reach our Eco-Lodge, where we will have our lunch prepared by our expert cook. After a good rest and a delicious and restful lunch, we will be able to board our vehicle to return to the City of Cusco. The approximate time of arrival to Cusco will be at 6:00 pm.

3. HOW WILL THE WEATHER BE ON THE WALK?
The weather is very unpredictable along the Way, it’s impossible to say exactly what kind of weather will come in during your Tour. No matter what month trips, make sure you have to hand waterproof clothing like a waterproof jacket or a good poncho for rain.
During the dry season (From April to November), the early ones are cloudy and can be cold. As the morning hours pass the clouds clear and the sun rises, so it can do quite a lot of heat.
