INTRODUCTION
This great adventure on the Peruvian Andes begins in Cusco City. The route is known as the Great Amazon access to Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the Modern World.
This way to get to Machu Picchu is unique, having its own charms and experiences. This tour called “Machu Picchu by Car” is a new, much more economical alternative designed for adventurous people. We are sure that this 6-hour ride by vehicle transport from Cusco City to the Hydroelectric through the mountain jungle will satisfy the most demanding travelers and they will truly make truly unforgettable memories, through captivating and wild nature. In addition, the route has the best panoramic views of the entire region.
On the route, we will admire the exuberant flora and fauna of the area, walking towards the village of Aguas Calientes (2,000 meters above sea level) to rest and sleep in a comfortable hotel. DAY 1: CUSCO CITY – MALAGA PASS – HYDROELECTRIC – AGUAS CALIENTES VILLAGE:
- One-way trip on vehicle transportation from Cusco City to the Hydroelectric Power Plant
- Walk from the Hydroelectric Power Plant to Aguas Calientes.

DAY 2: AGUAS CALIENTES VILLAGE – MACHU PICCHU – HYDROELECTRIC – MALAGA PASS – CUSCO CITY:
- Bus up and down between Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu.
- Tour of the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu.
- Walk from Ruinas Bridge to the Hydroelectric Power Plant.
- Vehicular transportation from the Hydroelectric Power Plant to Cusco City.

DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1: CUSCO CITY– MALAGA PASS – SANTA TERESA – HYDROELECTRIC – AGUAS CALIENTES VILLAGE
We will begin this incredible trip with departure scheduled for 7:00 am. on our vehicular transportation, from Regocijo Square. On the route we will pass through the village of Ollantaytambo, and after 2 hours and 30 minutes of travel on a paved road, we will arrive at the Málaga Pass (4,330 meters above sea level) – the highest point on the route -, a place where we will have our first stop for a good drink and great photos. Then, continuing on our transportation for 2 hours and 30 more minutes, we will arrive at the village of Santa Teresa at around 1:00 pm. The route is downhill and we will enter the hot area of the High Jungle. From Santa Teresa the path continues for about 50 minutes. But before we reach the Hydroelectric area, we will have our delicious lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch, we will brief you for the hike we will have during the afternoon, from the Hydroelectric Plant. This hike has an average of 2 hours and 30 minutes to the village of Aguas Calientes. On the route we will be able to observe the flora and fauna of the area, we will walk near the shore of the sacred Urubamba River; from there we can see the Holy Mountains such as Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu. The trek continues and passes through a cloud forest, this area is covered with bromeliads and many varieties of orchids. Finally at around 5:30 pm. we arrive at Aguas Calientes village (2,000 meters above sea level), and check in the assigned hotels. Then, if you want, there is the option of visiting the Village’s Thermal Baths. At night, around 8:00 p.m. we will have dinner in a local restaurant; there you will be given an INFORMATIONAL TALK with instructions for the next day, by our Guide who will do the guided tour of MACHU PICCHU, Wonder of the Modern World. At the end of dinner, we will go to the assigned hotel for spending the night.
DAY 2: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – HYDROELECTRIC – CUSCO CITY
This second day, we will get up very early, our breakfast is scheduled for 5:00 am. Afterwards, at around 5:30 am. we will leave the hotel (do not forget your belongings there…), and immediately walking for 5 minutes we will go to the Bus Station, to board the vehicle that will take us for 25 minutes along a zigzagging road to the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu (2,400 m.a.s.l.).
Upon arriving by bus at Machu Picchu, our friendly and expert Tourism Guide will begin the tour of the place. The visit to Machu Picchu will begin at 6:30 am. and will last approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, accompanied by the Guide’s explanations, visiting magical and incredible places that have made Machu Picchu one of the Wonders of the Modern World. After having enjoyed Machu Picchu, we will board the bus, which will take us for about 20 minutes down to Ruinas Bridge (place where you will have to get off).
From Ruinas Bridge, we will begin the return hike, walking 2 hours and 30 minutes until reaching the Hydroelectric area, where our transportation will be waiting from 2:00 pm. until 2:40 p.m.
When you arrive at the Hydroelectric, you have the option of having lunch on your own at a local restaurant. The departure of our return vehicle is scheduled for 2:40 pm. bound for Cusco City and arriving at approximately 9:30 p.m., at Historic Downtown.

All food is prepared with fresh ingredients, which are purchased very early in the local market in Cusco City on the same day of the trip. Everything is carried in our transport and then prepared by our cook. We do not use any canned or dehydrated foods. Everything is fresh, healthy and delicious!
The cooks are professionally trained to prepare the best meals: breakfasts and lunches that will keep you full of energy for the hike. Meals start very early in the morning with a great breakfast and at noon you will have a very good lunch. Below are some examples of what our Chefs can prepare and serve:

3. WHAT IS THE BEST SEASON TO VISIT THIS WORLD WONDER?
The best season to visit the area and especially Machu Picchu is in Dry Season, between the months of April and November.
In rainy season it is likely that these wonders will not be appreciated in all their splendor, because they may be covered with clouds.
4. WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE ON THE ROUTE?
As throughout the Andes weather is very unpredictable, it is impossible to say exactly what type of climate you will encounter during the Tour. No matter what month you travel to enjoy the Wonder of the World, that is, Machu Picchu, be sure to bring a waterproof jacket or a good rain poncho with you, or be ready with sunscreen at hand for a very hot day. Despite this, you can take into consideration our dry and rainy seasons.
During dry season (April to November), early mornings are cloudy and can be cold. As the morning hours pass, the clouds clear and Sun comes out, so it can be quite hot. Sunblock and a good hat to protect yourself from the heat are essential. However, keep in mind that sometimes it can be rainy in June and sunny in December.
During rainy season (December to March), pourings will happen. However, don’t be surprised if some days are sunny. February is the month with the most rain, so we do not recommend doing this tour.
5. WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET ILL DUE TO ALTITUDE SICKNESS?
Don’t worry! All our Guides are trained in case you get sick with this condition. All our Guides carry an oxygen tank and a First Aid Kit, this ensures that you are very well evaluated and cared for, which will allow you to continue with the Trek. In addition, all our staff are prepared in case of Emergency. After being treated, if you still feel very bad and cannot continue with the hike, the Guide will make the best decision for you: whether to continue or return. For us, your Safety and Health always come first.
6. IF I ALREADY PAY MY TOUR AND DECIDE TO CANCEL, WILL I BE REIMBURSED (A)?
