INTRODUCTION
This great adventure begins with the pick-up in Cusco City and then we go in our transport to the Sacred Valley and then way up to the Malaga Pass; from this place we will descend to Santa Maria, and then continue to Santa Teresa, place for having our lunch (approximate travel time from Cusco City to Santa Teresa: 5 hours)
Throughout the tour we will admire the exuberant flora and fauna of the region. In Santa Teresa you will visit and enjoy the crystal clear waters of the Cocalmayo Thermal Baths (1,600 meters above sea level). Then we will board our transportation again for 40 minutes, to our Lodge where you can rest and enjoy the spacious and comfortable facilities at our Lodge with WOODEN GEODESIC DOMES. You will also have the option of gathering around a campfire and admire a starry sky. Your place to rest and sleep is a comfortable dome room, with a private bathroom and shower with hydro massages. Enjoy dinner and the next day very early leave in our transport for 1 hour to the Hydroelectric, where we will begin to walk for 2 hours and 30 minutes towards Aguas Calientes village (2,000 meters above sea level) and then go up by bus to the amazing Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu (2,400 meters above sea level). Upon arriving there, our friendly and expert Guide will begin the guided tour of the site, visiting magical and incredible places that have made Machu Picchu one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, thus you will learn about the history and charm of this magical place.
At the end of the guided tour, you have a short time to take photos and then return by bus to Aguas Calientes, have lunch in a restaurant and finally go to the train station, to take the return train to Cusco City.

Itinerary
DAY 1: CUSCO CITY – MALAGA PASS – SANTA TERESA – COCALMAYO THERMAL BATHS – ECO LODGE MAJESTIC SKY DOMES
We will begin this incredible trip with departure scheduled for 7:30 am, on our vehicular transportation from Regocijo Square. On the route we will pass through the Ollantaytambo village, and after 2 hours and 30 minutes of riding on a paved road, we will arrive at the Malaga Pass (4,330 meters above sea level) – the highest point on the route -, a place for our first stop to take great photos. Then, continuing on our transportation for 2 hours and 30 more minutes, we will arrive at the village of Santa Teresa at around 1:00 pm, to have our lunch. After, on the transportation and for 15 more minutes we will arrive at the amazing Cocalmayo Thermal Baths; there you will enjoy the thermo-medicinal waters for about 2 hours. This place is located in the middle of a beautiful subtropical jungle landscape and consists of 3 large pools, with crystal clear, transparent waters coming from the underground; water temperature varies between 38° and 45° degrees Celsius. The complex has changing rooms for men and women, showers and swimwear rental stations. These medicinal waters are attributed healing properties for skin problems, rheumatism or joint pain, being at the same time a natural source of hydro massage and relaxation. If you want to cool the body, you can go the icy waterfalls from the Uripata lagoon, located next to the hot pools. After enjoying this place, we will get back to our transportation and ride along a road for 50 minutes to arrive at the Eco-Lodge at 5:30 pm. Upon arrival, you will enter into your Private Domes, and at night we will have a delicious dinner. Then, surrounded by nature and mountains, you will have the option to gather around a campfire and admire an incredible starry sky, and at the end of this great day sleep in the quite comfortable Dome Bedroom.
DAY 2: ECO LODGE MAJESTIC SKY DOMES – HYDROELECTRIC – MACHU PICCHU – AGUAS CALIENTES – CUSCO CITY
This second day, we will get up very early, our breakfast is scheduled for 5:30 am. After breakfast, at around 6:00 am. We will leave the Lodge and in our vehicle transport, travel for 1 hour and 30 minutes to the Hydroelectric Power Plant, arriving at 7:30 am. From the Hydroelectric we begin our hike, following the railway line for 3 hours, towards Aguas Calientes village. On the route we will be able to see the flora and fauna of the area, walking near the shore of the Urubamba River, from where we can spot Sacred Mountains such as Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu. The trek continues and passes through a cloud forest, this area is covered with bromeliads and many varieties of orchids. Finally around 10:30 am. we will arrive at Aguas Calientes village (2,000 meters above sea level). Upon arriving there we will leave our backpacks to immediately board the bus, going up for 25 minutes along a zigzagging road to the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu (2,400 meters above sea level). Upon arriving by bus at Machu Picchu, our friendly and expert Tourism Guide will begin the tour of the place. The visit to Machu Picchu will begin at 11 am. and will last approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, accompanied by the Guide’s explanations, visiting magical and incredible places that have made Machu Picchu one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. In the afternoon, after having enjoyed this unforgettable site, we will board the bus, for about 25 minutes down back to the village of Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival we will have lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards, there is time to tour the village and visit the Handicraft market. Then in the evening, at around 6:30 pm. We will board the Return Tourist Train to the village of Ollantaytambo, arriving at around 8:10 pm. One member of our staff will be waiting for you there, to take you in our vehicle transport back to Cusco City arriving at approximately 9:40 pm, then leaving you at the hotel.

3. WHY ARE TICKETS SOLD OUT SO FAST?
Unfortunately, many travelers are not aware of the limit of 500 daily spaces for this route. Furthermore, most hikers are unaware that this limit applies not only to travelers who enter the famous route each day, but also to all service personnel required by authorized agencies such as: guides, cooks and porters.
These service personnel are of vital importance in the development of your excursion since thanks to them, you will be provided with everything you need such as: food, accommodations, tents, etc. The guide will keep you safe and informed during the hike; the cook will provide you with delicious meals and keep you with the necessary energy to continue on your way; and the porters will carry everything you need such as: camping equipment, kitchen equipment, food, products, sleeping items, among others.
So, due to this regulation, the spaces required for a group of travelers will need to be Double in number (Travelers + Agency Service Personnel).
Now that you know the reason behind the high demand, you probably need to reserve a spot as soon as possible, through a Tourism Agency Authorized by the Peruvian Government to operate on this Trek, like ours, Incredible Peru Tours – IPT.
4. WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE IN MACHU PICCHU?
The weather is very unpredictable, it is impossible to say exactly what type of weather you will encounter during the Tour. No matter what month you travel, be sure to have waterproof clothing at hand like a rain jacket or a good rain poncho.
The area extends within the High Jungle, known as the Cloud Forest or Mountain Jungle, which is full of exuberant vegetation with the presence of orchids, ferns, bromeliads and some mosquitoes.
Machu Picchu is located at 2,400 meters above sea level, this is a considerably lower altitude (hotter and more humid) than the Cusco City and many other places. In Machu Picchu the temperature could reach 25 degrees Celsius. It is surrounded by higher mountain peaks, often shrouded in fog. This is perhaps one of the reasons why the Spanish never discovered it.
During dry season (April to November), early mornings are cloudy and can be cold. As the morning hours pass, the clouds clear and the sun comes out, so it can be quite hot. Sun protection, insect repellent and a good hat are essential. However, keep in mind that sometimes it can be rainy in June and sunny in December.
During rainy season (from mid-November to mid-April), rainfall happens. However, don’t be surprised if some days are sunny this season. February is the month with the most rain, so during this month the Tour is not recommended.
5. IF I ALREADY PAID MY FIRST FEE AND DECIDE TO CANCEL, WILL I BE REFUNDED?
Unfortunately No. We will not be able to make any type of refund or change dates for Tours that are paid in Parts. All Prepayments of USD$200.00 are not refundable or transferable, for this money will be invested immediately in all the Procedures and Reservations necessary to carry out the Tour, as well as in the purchase of Permits and Tickets for Machu Picchu. We will carry out these procedures at the Peruvian Ministry of Culture (State Organization in charge of the Administration of the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu).
6. DO I NEED TO BRING ADDITIONAL MONEY TO MY TOUR?
Yes, if you want to buy snacks such as cookies, dried fruit, chocolates, etc. or additional drinks such as soda, beer or an energy beverage, since it is possible to purchase these products in small stores in the area.
In addition, there is the possibility of taking a hot shower on the first day for 10 soles. Also, if you want to buy some souvenirs from the trip, you can buy them at the Handicraft Market in Aguas Calientes village. For all this, we recommend that you bring between 150 and 300 Peruvian soles. You may not need to spend any of this money, but in the event of an Emergency, you should make sure you have enough cash.
