INTRODUCTION

The trail starts in Soraypampa and climbs through mountain paths to the shore of the lake, where turquoise waters meet the icy wall of Mount Humantay. It’s one of the most photographed spots in the region, and for good reason: few views compare to this one.
The lake forms from the glacial melt of the mountain, part of the Vilcabamba range, one of the most striking mountain chains in southern Peru. This adventure begins in Cusco and is built to satisfy even the most demanding travelers: crystal clear rivers, quiet trails, and stunning views of Mount Salkantay, the highest peak in the area at 6,271 meters, will stay with you every step of the way.

- 7:00 a.m. Arrival in the town of Mollepata.
- 7:20 a.m. Breakfast at a local restaurant.
- 8:00 a.m. Departure by tourist transport from the town of Mollepata.
- 9:00 a.m. Arrival in the Soraypampa area.
- 9:20 a.m. Start of the hike.
- 11:00 a.m. Arrival and visit to Humantay Lake.

- 1:00 p.m. Arrival in the Soraypampa area.
- 1:10 p.m. Departure by tourist transport from the Soraypampa area.

Note: This schedule is for reference only, as it may vary depending on each hiker’s physical condition.
DETAILED ITINERARY
- We will pick you up from your hotel at 4:30 a.m. in our private transport, and we will travel for 2 hours and 30 minutes until we reach the town of Mollepata. There we will have the included breakfast at a local restaurant, a great way to fuel up before continuing.
- Afterward, we will board the transport again and continue the journey for about 40 more minutes to the area known as Soraypampa, located at 3,900 meters above sea level, where we will arrive at approximately 9:00 a.m.
- After a short rest, we will begin the hike to Humantay Lake, located at 4,300 meters above sea level. The climb takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes, and once there you will be able to take in this extraordinary scenery, admire its turquoise waters, and capture photos of the panoramic views of Mount Humantay and Mount Salkantay. After taking some time to rest, we will head back down on foot, this time entirely downhill, for about 1 hour until we reach Soraypampa again at around 1:00 p.m.
- We will then board the transport for about 40 minutes to reach Mollepata at 2:00 p.m., where we will have lunch at a local restaurant. Finally, you will be taken back to the city of Cusco, arriving at around 5:00 p.m.

Furthermore, our entire team is prepared in case of Emergency. After treatment, if you still feel very unwell and are unable to continue the Tour, the Guide will make the best decision for you:to continue or return.
