Itinerary
DETAILED ITINERARY
- Very early in the morning, between 4:30 am and 5:00 am, we pick you up at the hotel in Cusco City and then leave heading south, in our tourist transport.
- The journey lasts around 2 hours and 30 minutes on a paved road, until reaching the villlage of Tinki, from there the route continues for another 30 minutes also on a paved road, until the Peasant Community of Pacchanta -Hike Head-, where we will arrive around 8am. There we will have a delicious breakfast at a local restaurant.
- After enjoying breakfast, the Guide will give us an introductory talk about the place and the route. Around 9am we start our walk, first it will be a slight climb for about 30 minutes, during the journey we will have the chance to see flocks of South American camelids such as the llama and the alpaca, and some small birds from the region.
- Afterwards, the road is flat for about 40 minutes, along the route we will take a brief break and enjoy our snacks. Then we will continue with the walk and have one last climb, lasting around 20 minutes.
- And after 1 hour and 30 minutes of hiking, at approximately 10:30 am we arrive at our first destination, the 1st Lagoon, known as Puca Cocha, where we will have the opportunity to take panoramic photos of the entire place.
- Continuing for about 5 min. we will be in front of the 2nd Lagoon, Huaca Cocha and the 3rd Lagoon, Oque Cocha, which are practically together. Here we will take the chance to rest, take great souvenir photos and eat our snacks. From there the path continues down a slight descent.
- We will then walk along the slopes of the Ausangate Snowy, accompanied by impressive views of this great mountain, and in about 10 minutes we reach the 4th Lagoon, Qomer Cocha, a beautiful pond with turquoise waters. If we are lucky, we will be able to spot the largest flying bird in the world, the great Andean Condor.
- We will continue through this magical place that Mother Nature whimsically formed as if it were a great work of art, and after 10 minutes, we arrive at the 5th Lagoon, called Otorongo Cocha, which enchants visitors with its crystal clear waters.
- Continuing our tour, we are informed by excellent explanations from our specialized Guide, and just after 5 min. we will find the 6th Lagoon, called Alqa Cocha, in this place we take the chance to rest and take wonderful photos.
- Then we will continue walking further for about 5 minutes until reaching the 7th and final lagoon, called Azul Cocha. It takes its name from the beautiful blue color of its waters, which make this place unique and incomparable. After a well-deserved rest, we are ready to continue our journey. From here the path goes down for an hour, in this part it is possible to see some typical houses of the area and their corrals, which are made of stone.
- Continuing along the route we will have the opportunity to see llamas and alpacas that live freely, the path is so magical and incredible that it surprises more than one. The walk descends for about 30 more minutes until we reach the peasant community of Pacchanta, at approximately 2pm.
- In Pacchanta they will be waiting for us with a delicious, invigorating lunch, after which we can take a very comforting hot water bath in the community Thermal Baths.
