INTRODUCTION
This tour is one of the most exciting experiences you can have in the region, combining a visit to the archaeological complex of Moray, the town of Maras, and its breathtaking salt mines.
No prior experience is needed to ride the ATVs, as all of our units are semi-automatic. This means you can relax and enjoy the scenery while staying in direct contact with nature. It is, without a doubt, the best adventure activity to make the most of a free half-day in Cusco.
The ATV tour begins with a pickup and transfer in our private vehicle to the Raqchi area, where you will take on the 4-cable zip line. Afterward, we head to the base for a brief practice session with instructions from our mechanic guide. From there, we kick off the ATV adventure toward the archaeological complex of Moray, taking in the stunning mountain landscapes of the Sacred Valley of the Incas along the way. Upon arriving at Moray, you will have the perfect opportunity to capture incredible photos of this fascinating site. On the way back, we board the transport to the world-famous Maras Salt Mines, where you will have 20 minutes for a photo session.

ITINERARY
HALF DAY – ATV TO MORAY AND SALINERAS
he tour begins with a pickup at your hotel in Cusco at 7:00 a.m. We will board our tourist transport and head north out of the city for approximately 45 minutes until we reach the area known as Cruzpata.
Upon arriving at Cruzpata, your guide will provide the full safety gear required for the ATV circuit: helmet, gloves, knee pads, elbow pads, and a protective vest. The guide will then lead a safety briefing covering how the ATVs work, riding instructions, and the braking system. Once the briefing is complete, you will have approximately 10 minutes of hands-on practice to get comfortable before hitting the trail.
From Cruzpata, you will ride your ATV for about 50 minutes through a circuit that takes you across magical landscapes with breathtaking views of mountains and snow-capped peaks, passing through traditional villages of the Sacred Valley. The route culminates at the archaeological site of Moray, an ancient Inca agricultural laboratory known for its striking circular terraces. Here you will enjoy a guided visit and plenty of time to take photos and soak in the surroundings.
Back on the ATVs, we will ride for approximately 40 minutes until we reach the Maras Salt Mines, an extraordinary site made up of more than 3,000 white salt pools fed by natural saltwater springs. This salt has been harvested since Inca times and is still collected today by local families living in the Sacred Valley. You will have free time to take photos and record videos at your own pace.
From the Maras Salt Mines, we will continue on the ATVs for about 30 minutes back to Cruzpata, where our transport will be waiting to take you back to Cusco. Estimated arrival at the Plaza de Armas is around 12:30 p.m.

1. DO I NEED PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE TO DRIVE AN ATV?
No previous experience is required. Before starting the tour, the guide will give you instructions on how to drive the ATV and explain the safety measures. This tour is suitable for beginners.
2. HOW LONG DOES THE ATV TOUR TO MORAY AND THE MARAS SALT MINES LAST?
The tour lasts approximately half a day. It usually includes pickup from Cusco, transportation to the ATV base, a guided tour, and return to the city.
3. WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE ON THE ROUTE?
During dry season (April to November), early mornings are cloudy and can be cold. As the morning hours pass, the clouds clear and the Sun comes out, so it can be quite hot. Sunblock and a good hat to protect yourself are essential. However, keep in mind that sometimes it can be rainy in June and sunny in December.
During rainy season (December to March), pourings happen. However, don’t be surprised if some days are sunny this season. February is the month with the most rain, so we do not recommend doing this tour.
4. WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET ILL DUE TO ALTITUDE SICKNESS?
Don’t worry! All our Guides are trained in case you get sick with this condition. All our Guides carry an oxygen tank and a First Aid Kit, this ensures that you are very well evaluated and cared for, which will allow you to continue with the Trek. In addition, all our staff are prepared in case of Emergency. After being treated, if you still feel very bad and cannot continue with the hike, the Guide will make the best decision for you: whether to continue or return. For us, your Safety and Health always come first.
5. DO I NEED TO BRING ADDITIONAL MONEY TO THE TOUR?
Yes, only if you want to buy snacks such as cookies, dried fruit, chocolates, etc. or an additional drink such as soda, beer or an energy beverage, because it is possible to purchase these products in small stores in the area.
6. WHAT TIME WILL WE RETURN TO CUSCO CITY?
Tour return time is scheduled for 12:30 p. m. This time is only a reference, for there may be some unexpected delays that affect the arrival schedule, such as: traffic, a traveler may have suffered a setback, poor road conditions, among others; so there may be the possibility of arriving later.
