4. WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE ON THE TREK?

Weather is very unpredictable along the Hike, it is impossible to say exactly what kind of weather you will encounter during the Tour. No matter what month you travel, be sure to have waterproof clothing on hand such as a rain jacket or a good rain poncho.

During dry season (April to November), early mornings are cloudy and can be cold. As the morning hours pass, the clouds clear and the sun comes out, so it can be quite hot. Sun protection, insect repellent and a good hat are essential. However, keep in mind that sometimes it can be rainy in June and sunny in December.

During rainy season (from mid-November to mid-April), rainfall is very constant. However, don’t be surprised if some days are sunny this season. February is the month with the most rain, so during this month some hikes are closed.

Remember a rain poncho is highly recommended, no matter what season you decide to travel. Also consider that when it rains the old stones on the path become slippery, so it is very important to use hiking boots with good tread and perhaps a rubber-tipped cane.

5. WHY DO TICKETS SELL OUT SO FAST?

Unfortunately, many travelers do not know the daily space limit for Machu Picchu. So you require an authorized agency to reserve.

This regulation is enforced by the Ministry of Culture, which is in charge of regulating these tickets for Machu Picchu, with the purpose of caring for and protecting this Historical Sanctuary. Now that you know the reason behind the high demand, you probably want to reserve your entrance as soon as possible, so for this you will need to do it through a Tourism Agency Authorized by the Peruvian Government, like ours, Incredible Peru Tours-IPT.

6. HOW MUCH SHOULD I TIP THE GUIDE, COOK AND PORTERS?

Tips are not mandatory, there is no exact amount. Only if you wish, at the end of the tour you can give tips for the tour guides, cooks and porters. As you can see, this is something additional and totally voluntary, really what you consider will be greatly appreciated by our Staff.

7. WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET ILL FROM ALTITUDE SICKNESS?

Don’t worry!. All our Guides are trained in case you get sick with this condition. All our Guides carry an oxygen tank and a First Aid Kit, this ensures that you are very well evaluated and cared for, which will allow you to continue with the Trek. In addition, all our staff is prepared in case of Emergency. After being treated, if you still feel very bad and cannot continue with the hike, the Guide will take the best decision for you whether to continue or return. For us, your Safety and Health always come first.

If you have to return, don’t worry, you still have the option to redeem with your group, settle to the Town of Aguas Calientes and from there go up to Machu Picchu very soon on the 4th day, to join your group again at the Entrance Area to get in. to Machu Picchu and not miss the opportunity to visit it. This will have some additional cargoes.

8. IF I ALREADY PAID MY FIRST FEE AND DECIDE TO CANCEL, WILL I BE REFUNDED?

Unfortunately No. We will not be able to make any type of refund or change dates for Tours that are paid in Installments. All Pre-Payments are not refundable or transferable since this money will be invested immediately in all the Procedures and Reservations required to carry out the Tour, as well as in the purchase of Permits and Tickets.

We understand that unexpected things happen that are out of your control, but we cannot make exceptions. You can read more about our Change and Cancellation Policies on our website

9. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL COMPLEX OF MACHU PICCHU AND THE MACHU PICCHU MOUNTAIN?

Our Tour includes the Entrance Ticket to the Machu Picchu Archaeological Complex. This is a guided tour of around 2 hours through its most interesting places, which will be led by our Professional Guide.

Machu Picchu Mountain is a large mountain that is close to the Machu Picchu Archaeological Complex (2,400 meters above sea level). It has an ancient Inca path to access its summit, which is 3,000 meters above sea level. You can do this hike alone in an average of 3 hours between the climb and the descent. From the top you will have an impressive 360° panoramic view of the entire Urubamba Valley.

As you can see, it is an optional route; and if you want, you can do it after visiting Machu Picchu. Therefore, if you decide to go, we will give you an additional entrance ticket to this mountain.

The entry price is US$70.00, and we recommend you buy it when making the reservation for the Cachicata Route, as permits are very limited (only 400 people per day can do this climb).

10. DO I NEED TO BRING ADDITIONAL MONEY FOR MY TOUR?

Yes, if you want to buy some snacks like cookies, dried fruits, chocolates, etc. or an additional drink such as soda, beer or energy beverage, as these products can be purchased in small stores.

Furthermore, if you want to buy some souvenirs from the Tour, you can do so at the Aguas Calientes Handicraft Market. There is also an additional option to visit the Thermo-medicinal Baths in this village, the entrance price is 20 soles. For all this, we recommend that you bring between 150 and 300 Peruvian soles. You may not need to spend any of this money, but in case of an emergency, make sure you have enough cash.

11. WILL I HAVE THE CHANCE TO SHOWER DURING THE ROUTE? WILL I HAVE ACCESS TO BATHROOM SERVICES?

Yes, you will have the opportunity to take showers in the second camp at Playa Sahuayaco Domes and the third night, at the Aguas Calientes hotel.

Regarding Toilet Services, you can use these services in all the camps, in the places where you will have lunch and arriving at Machu Picchu.

12. WHAT TIME DO WE RETURN TO CUSCO CITY?

On the last day, after visiting Machu Picchu, we will take a bus for 25 minutes down to Aguas Calientes village. We will have lunch at a local restaurant and then go for a train ride of 1 hour and 45 minutes, until the Ollantaytambo Train Station. There, our transportation will be taking us for a two-hour ride back to Cusco City. The group will be in Cusco City between 7:00 and 10:30 p.m., depending on the time the Aguas Calientes train leaves.
