Itinerary

DAY 1: CUSCO CITY – CUSIPATA – RAINBOW MOUNTAIN  – CUSCO CITY

Pick-up will be between 4:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. from your hotel located in the city of Cusco. Then, we will leave the city and head south in our tourist transportation along a paved road until we reach the town of Cusipata, where we will enjoy a delicious breakfast at a local restaurant. This journey takes approximately 2 hours.

After enjoying breakfast, we will continue the trip by tourist transportation along an unpaved but well-maintained road for about 1 more hour until we reach the area known as Phullawasipata. This will be the starting point of the hike and the place where the road ends. This area is located within the lands of the rural community of Chilliwani. We will arrive at approximately 8:30 a.m.

Upon arrival at the starting point of the hike, our guide will give us an introductory briefing about the place and the route. Then, around 9:00 a.m., we will begin our hike with a gentle uphill walk of approximately 30 minutes. Along the way, we will have the opportunity to observe herds of South American camelids, such as llamas and alpacas, as well as some small birds native to the area.

Afterward, the trail continues along a flatter section for about 40 minutes. Along the route, we will take a short break and enjoy our snacks. Then, we will continue hiking and complete a final uphill section of approximately 20 minutes.

Finally, after about 1 hour and 30 minutes of hiking, at approximately 10:30 a.m., we will arrive at our main destination: Rainbow Mountain, a unique place shaped by nature as if it were a great work of art. With a bit of luck, we may also have the chance to observe the condor, considered one of the largest flying birds in the world.

At Rainbow Mountain, we will have enough time to take memorable photos, listen to the explanations of our friendly guide, rest, and enjoy our snacks. From this point, we will also have panoramic views of Ausangate Mountain. After enjoying this magical and beautiful place for approximately 1 hour, we will begin our return to Phullawasipata.

We will leave Rainbow Mountain at around 11:30 a.m. and descend for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes until we reach Phullawasipata again. There, our tourist transportation will be waiting to take us back to the town of Cusipata, where we will enjoy a restorative buffet lunch at a local restaurant.

After our delicious lunch, we will board our transportation once again and return to the city of Cusco, arriving at approximately 5:00 p.m.
